Frequently asked questions

Before we begin.

Every building and brief is different. If your question is specific to your project, we would be happy to discuss it.

Ask us a question
What services does Philip & Co offer?
Our services cover surveying, design and planning, technical and construction drawings, and consultancy and costing. You can appoint us for a specific survey or drawing package, or agree a wider scope to support your project.
Can I appoint you for just one stage?
Yes. You may need an initial survey, a set of drawings, a feasibility review or advice on a particular issue. We can agree a focused appointment as well as support across several stages.
What should I send with my enquiry?
Tell us the project location, what you want to achieve and how far you have progressed. Existing drawings, photographs and any previous application information are useful. You can attach these when sending your email.
Do you prepare planning applications?
Yes. Our service can include the preparation of drawings, coordination of supporting information, submission and communication with the local authority, depending on the agreed appointment.
Can you help while construction is underway?
We can discuss a defined role in project or construction consultancy. Sharing the current drawings, project status and the issue you need help with will allow us to identify the appropriate next step.
How are your fees agreed?
Fees depend on the scope, complexity and information available. We set out the proposed services, fee basis and exclusions before you decide to proceed.
How long will my project take?
The programme depends on the work involved, the information needed and any third-party decisions. We discuss the likely stages at the outset and update the programme as the project develops.
Can you work with my existing contractor or consultants?
Yes. Tell us who is already involved and which services they are providing. We can agree our role and the coordination needed alongside the existing project team.
